16th January 2025 | By Jamie Speller

It has been reported today [by Fabrizio Romano] that Chelsea under-21 star Zain Silcott-Duberry has agreed terms with the Cherries, swapping the busy streets of London for the scenic charm of Bournemouth. So, who is he?

Career So Far

Born on July 9th, 2005, in Hackney, Silcott-Duberry is just 19 years old and already represents Chelsea at the U21 level. Primarily a winger, favoring the right flank, he is versatile enough to play as a wing-back. Standing at 1.86 meters (6’1”), he’s a tall presence on the field.

Silcott-Duberry began his career in the youth teams at Norwich City before joining Chelsea in 2017. In 2022, he signed his first professional contract with Chelsea and played 17 games for their U18s that season, contributing a goal and several assists.

He was promoted to the U21s, where he solidified his role as a right wing-back, appearing in 11 games and scoring three goals. This season, he has only played a few games but made his mark by scoring in the Premier League International Cup against Anderlecht.

Internationally, he is eligible to represent both England and Montserrat. He previously played for Montserrat at the U15 level before featuring in England’s U16 and U17 setups.

What the Future Holds

Bournemouth fans have plenty to be excited about. Silcott-Duberry is a pacey, physically strong player adept at taking on opponents and delivering quality crosses. His versatility allows him to excel both as a winger and a wing-back. Additionally, his height makes him strong in the air and effective in duels.

Initially, he will join Bournemouth’s academy setup. However, this signing is seen as a "long-term investment" by Bournemouth, with potential for inclusion in the senior squad. (Source: OneFootball)

With the right training and consistent playing time, Silcott-Duberry has the potential to develop into a Premier League-caliber winger or wing-back. The change of scenery may provide him the breakthrough he’s been looking for, allowing him to showcase his raw talent and potential.

If he continues his growth trajectory, he could become a regular in England’s youth setup and, possibly, progress to the senior level in the future.
